OUT of CHARACTER
#001. Egypt expects all its players to act maturely whilst ‘OOC’. Harassment of any kind is not tolerated (types of harassment include: sexual harassment, religious harassment, racial harassment, etc.) and the offender will be punished accordingly.
#002. With regards to its players acting maturely, Egypt allows some forms of ‘chat speak’ which include: lmao, omg, lol. Typing like someone who does not know correct English (‘dis’, ‘kewl’, ‘ur an idiot’, ‘u’, and so on and so forth) is a punishable offence. Please do not slaughter your keyboards and other members’ eyes by typing like that.
#003. Upon reading the above rule, the staff of Egypt also expect that its players will not power-play, god-mode or script. For those that do not know what either of these definitions mean, god-mode is when you control another person’s character, power-playing is when you’re in a fight and you don’t let your character take any hits - and scripting is when you post as if you are writing a script.
An example of this would be:
BOB: *moves to the side* This tastes nice! *licks lips*
SALLY: Yes, I know! *rubs hands together gleefully*
#004. If your character has developed a grudge or some sort of hatred against another character, Egypt asks that you do not carry the grudge through to ‘OOC’ mode. It is not necessary and there is an obvious difference between ‘IC’ and ‘OOC’, so please note that. It is also an offence and any player(s) that commit it will be punished.
#005. When posting an image within the boards of Egypt, you must make sure that it complies with the ProBoards Terms of Service. This means that it must not hotlink, it must not contain sexual/racist references (pornography, etcetera) and - as an add on to their TOS - should not stretch the boards. Any images that do stretch the boards will be reduced to a link, and any player found posting inappropriate images will be banned without hesitation and reported.
#006. Once accepted by a member of staff, new members of Egypt should post anywhere ‘IC’ within their first week of joining or risk facing deletion. The only exceptions that will be made are if you have contacted a member of staff beforehand and explained that you will be away/will not be able to access Egypt for X amount of days.
#007. Like on every site, Egypt also does not appreciate inactivity. It is somewhat acceptable during the school months, but if you do start to become inactive, please contact a member of staff whenever you get the chance to and explain why. Otherwise, do attempt to post at least once a week, and if you can’t, take the first option.
WHILST in CHARACTER
#001. Although Egypt has elements of fantasy in it, strictly speaking, it’s still a realistic horse role-playing game. Yes, we do have Gods and other things relating to legends in the game, but we don’t want to see any pink horses, horses with wings, horses with diamonds on their foreheads, etcetera.
Despite the fact that we do have things to do with fantasy in the game, we still want the horses to be realistic. So, if we see any applications with winged horses, horses with jewellery, horses that have odd-coloured eyes/coats, you’ll be declined and warned.
#002. Although it is allowed on other sites, for the purpose of building relationships up here on Egypt, we’re not going to be that lenient when it comes to automatic relationships. It will be alright if your character and someone else’s character know each other from a previous site (and you inform us of that), but otherwise, a member of staff will warn you.
For those of you who don’t know what instant relationships are, it’s when two characters post in a thread together (assuming they don’t know each other/have never met before) and usually say that Character X is their best friend, or they ask Character X out because they love them, etc. It has no development in it whatsoever, and because we stress character development, we’d prefer for it to have no place on this site.
#003. Egypt is an intermediate-advanced role roleplaying game. This being said, the minimum number of paragraphs for ‘IC’ posting is two, and that’s five to eight detailed sentences that make up a paragraph. So, in reality, the minimum we’ll accept is ten to sixteen decent sentences, dialogue not included.
#004. Whilst ‘IC’, swearing is allowed, please do not go overboard, or else this privilege will be taken away. Egypt is for players who can be mature when ‘OOC’ and ‘IC’, and those who can’t be mature will be treated as such. If you do go overboard with your swearing (e.g an offensive swear word every two other words), you will be warned and if you continue, you will be suspended for a day.
#005. Because Egypt is a site that attempts to be as realistic as possible whilst retaining its original links to fantasy, we do follow the pattern of real life that would occur with wild horses. Below is a list of what stallions can and can’t do, and after that will be the list on what mares can and can’t do. Finally, you’ll see the list on—you guessed it—what foals can and cannot do.
Anyway, on with the stallion list:
- At the age of four years and above, stallions may breed with a mare in their herd (with the Lord’s permission) or a mare that they find in the wandering lands (without anyone’s permission—even without the mare’s permission, if you have the player’s OOC permission beforehand).
- From four years and older, a stallion can challenge another stallion for breeding rights with a certain mare (if the mare doesn’t belong to them), or simply to steal the mare away from the other stallion.
- Stallions can claim mares for their herd, and they can breed with the mares that they claim only when they’re in the wandering lands. Once they’ve set foot in their herd’s territory, they can’t breed with any mares unless they have the Lord’s permission.
- Stallions can fight each other for a herd, but it’s ultimately up to the Protector of the herd as to who wins the fight and gets the land. The Protectors are played by the staff, so all fights are judged fairly.
- For stallions of the darker alignment (or any stallion who feels like it), they can keep mares as slaves—only if they keep the slave hidden. If the Lord finds out that you have a slave (whether it be for pleasure, out of spite or your own personal reasons), the chances are that aforementioned Lord will have a right go at you and possibly kick you out of your herd.
- As it has been said before, yes, stallions may rape mares whilst they’re in the wandering lands—but only if they have the player’s permission beforehand. Graphic breeding is allowed, but if it’s going to go that far, please discuss it before you make the thread and then mark the title accordingly.
MARES
- At the age of four years and above, mares may breed with any stallion in their herd (if they have the Lord’s permission). If not, the Lord can decide who the mare breeds with and your character will have to go along with it, otherwise they’ll most likely get punished.
- If your mare is four years and over and found in the wandering lands on her own, she’ll most likely be raped (if she’s in heat and you’ve discussed it with the stallion’s player beforehand), claimed by a stallion or kept as a slave by a stallion (again, this needs to be discussed between the two of you). If your character is to be kept as a slave, you should decide what slave ‘job’ she’s going to have, and you can be as creative as you like.
- Mares cannot claim other mares or stallions, nor can they breed with any other stallion without the Lord’s permission. However, there is a rare chance that the Protector of the herd might make the decision instead—and depending on who that is, your character might have a good chance of getting her own way, or a very, very low chance.
- Throughout the year, a mare can give birth to one foal—although, in a rare case, there might be twins. This keeps the numbers easier to control, and it’s a lot easier for everyone to know which mares have offspring and which mares do not.
- Mares can—and at some point in their life if they’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, most likely will—be raped. It is possible for them to fight back, although it’s only on the odd occasion that a mare wins a fight against a stallion. 99.9% of the time, your character can fight back and it’ll have little effect, the stallion will still rape them (and the chances are that they’ll impregnate your mare as well).
FOALS
- Colts become stallions at the age of four and can then be kicked out of the herd by the Lord. If the colt isn’t kicked out, the Lord will usually make sure that it’s outcast from the rest of the herd, which will often force the colt to leave by its own will.
- Fillies become mares at the age of four, and they have the choice of leaving the herd and living in the wandering areas/with the Magi, or staying with their herd. Most of the time, they’ll choose to stay with the herd—although some mares have been known to leave their herd at the first chance they get.
- Once a mare has become pregnant, she carries the foal for one (1) real life week before she gives birth. After she gives birth and has posted with the foal once, she can age the foal as she pleases—as long as it’s somewhat realistic. We don’t want foals being born on a Wednesday and then being four years old the day after, do we?
- Foals are usually weaned at four to six months old, and this is the approximate time that mares should be weaning their young. At this time, you can start to play the foal as its own character—but so long as it isn’t weaned, you should always play it alongside its mother.
- The staff of Egypt will decide the foal’s general statistics (eye colour, coat colour, gender, personality, appearance), whilst the parents can decide its name and—as it grows up—its history.
- Foals cannot be fought for or stolen. The only time you can ever steal or fight for a foal is if you’re fighting for its mother and she happens to have a foal at the time.
CRIME and PUNISHMENT
Minor Offence: Minor Offences include things like spamming, light harassment and insulting another player whilst ‘OOC’. They can get you a verbal warning and a 10% warning on the warn meter, too, as well as one karma taken away from you.
Medium Offence: Medium Offences include things like repeated harassment, disobeying a member of staff’s instructions and continuous swearing whilst ‘OOC’. For a Medium Offence, the offender can get a 50% warning on the warn meter and a two-day ban from the site.
Large Offence: Large Offences are serious and include things along the lines of posting inappropriate images, continuous spamming and harassment/insulting of members, ignoring staff instructions and being incredibly unruly. A 100% warning will be placed on the member’s warn meter and they will be banned from the site for any length of time that the staff sees fit.[/blockquote]
