The world is a tangled and mysterious place, filled with both wonders and things best left undisturbed. The day breaks with only the waves on the shore as its audience, but even then the sun is an entertainer. Even with no one at all to observe it, the sun will always dance. The day comes quietly at first, as a shy child who hides behind its mother's skirt and only risks a peek out at the scary world from behind her legs every now and then. That is the way of things, because it always takes some time for the sky to warm to the sun's rays.
Finally, when night begins to fade beneath those first tentative rays of light, the day becomes bolder. A teenager now, it laughs as it fills the sky with brilliant greens and reds, coupling with gaudy blues and purples to create a color that is indescribably heartbreaking. But even now, the day has not finished its dance. In truth, the dance is never finished and never postponed; the sun is always dancing, even when there is no one to see.
The next stage is adulthood, and there are times when the day brings an angry and shallow adult who is unable to let go of previous ills. Those days are cloudy and relatively sunless, or filled with temperamental wind and weather. But other times the day introduces a merry adult, someone tested by life's challenges and someone who survived with a heart relatively intact. That is when the sun truly smiles down on the earth and when all of the world's wonders have chance to truly bloom. Because the sun, even though it dances without eyes to watch it, likes to perform in front of an audience best.
But those are the bright side of things, when the residents of Kiwi Islands only have their own affairs to worry about (and those of their neighbors to gossip over). There are times when the world becomes dark even though the sun still blooms, and there are times that the sun glitters in the sky like a cold, hard gem tempting both greed and jealousy for those who dare look upon it. The world is a place filled with cycles and patterns, and the residents of this too perfect paradise are about to fall upon harder times. Because the sun is always dancing, even if everything else has died.
Welcome to KIWI ISLANDS, an all levels horse role playing game that is focused around the lives of horses in many different stages of life. The plot is relatively simple at this point, although eventually the interactions of characters and players alike will help to develop it into something more detailed and complex. Because the world, although usually a benevolent and peaceful caretaker, can become an uncertain and sometimes horrifying place. In the farthest reaches of North in the realm of Kiwi Islands, it is rumored that an unprecedented amount of mares have begun to die during childbirth. Twins are said to be a common there, although not necessarily why there have been so many deaths. The twins born to those mothers who die in childbirth are said to be different and maybe even dangerous. They have abilities, powers that nobody has ever seen before.
But those are only rumors, silly things that silly mares make up to pass the time between pregnancies. Nothing like that could possibly be true, could it?
